The Spine Institute is composed of a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon with over 25 years of experience.
James W. Hardacker, MD, FAAOS
Orthopaedic spine surgeon Dr. James w. Hardacker earned his medical degree and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at SUNY Buffalo's School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences in 1992 with the acclaimed spine surgeons Edward H. Simmons, MD and Robert Gillespie, MD.
Following his residency training Dr. Hardacker pursued a fellowship in adult and pediatric spine surgery at the University of Kansas with deformity surgeons Dr. Marc Asher and Dr. Roger Jackson, the inventor of the modern spinal surgical table.
Dr. Hardacker is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and an active fellow (FAAOS) of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 1997. He has memberships in international groups as well, including the North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society.
He has served as medical staff president and spine director at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. Dr. Hardacker has extensive research experience from both bench and clincal research. Having won the research paper of the year by Scoliosis Research Society, he has unique insights into the latest technologies and advances in the local and national spine world, not just the latest treatment fads.
